Christmas Time is here - Mozart

Sorry I haven't been active on the blogging side. Right now I am looking into creating my own website. A bit more on that later.

If it wasn't for certain chain of events I don't know what I'd be doing today. I was fortunate enough to volunteer my time as a photographer for at the Edmonton Humane Society for their Santa Clause photo event. I ended up helping out from December 5-7.

I will be helping out at Edmonton's Humane Society taking photos. I was there today to make sure their laptop and printer were working properly

On Tuesday it actually got busy at the very end of the day. The last groupe of people who wanted to have their photos taken brough with them a Chiwawa and a pet Turtle. Some animals are hard to keep still, they will either be too excited or too nervous, but this Turtle was a star! I'm sure PETA would approve of this photo

Edmontonia 2011

Past two weeks I've been quite busy.  I took my niece to the annual Capital EX festival the have here in Edmonton, it was my first time going and it was a good excuse to take pictures.  But let me suggest one thing, lugging around a heavy DSLR Camera for a while while carrying other peoples bags can get annoying sometimes haha, but it was fun.

This fella was just walking by and I was lucky enough to snap a picture, the text is from lens flare I think.

It was nearing 11pm and we were on out way out when we noticed a live stage concert going on.  Sadly we arrived just as it was ending :(

Introductions - In the beginning...

Hello world!

Hello, my name is Howard Cameron, born and raised in Montreal, Quebec Canada, now living in Edmonton, Alberta  for the past four years.  I consider myself to be a hobbyist when it comes to photography and drawing.  They are both interests that I am very passionate about.

What got me into photography was from when I took a photography class as part of my electives for a Communications program at Vanier College.  Our teach spoke with a lisp, looked like the dad from American pie and loved to say "Right on!" Anyways,  I was given a Pentax SLR camera and the first assignment he gave to the class was to run around school taking pictures of anything of interest.
@Vanier college, this was one of the first negatives I was able to develop.

I took some really bad photos but I just loved the whole idea of being able to have so much control of the pictures I took.  So I purchased my very first digital camera, the Fuji Finepix 6800zoom (Designed by Porsche).  This was back in 2001.

@ Vanier college, got into photography because of photos like this.

Fastfoward to 2010, since living here in Edmonton I haven't gotten much of a chance to venture outside and to explore the city, that is, until I purchased my very first DSLR the Canon T1i.  I purchased this because I could not afford the T2i that just came out and I wanted a DSLR that could do video as well.  Needless to say I still sucked at taking pictures but that did not stop me thanks to the fact that I was limited to my memory card size nor how many rolls of 12-24 exposure films I was carrying.

Now here I am today, still improving, always learning something new, and just loving the fact that I am able to capture and share random moments with people who are interested in seeing themselves in a whole new light.
